The fifth Truck & Bus World Forum was held jointly with Solutrans at Eurexpo, Lyon, on 30 November-1 December 2011.
The forum welcomed international decision-makers from the commercial vehicle industry around the theme “Passenger and goods transport: towards better accessibility of urban environments.”

LUTB partners the Solutrans fair, a major event for the lorry sector and its innovations.
Exhibitors expected : 750 exhibitors including 15% international
Visitors expected : 25 000 visitors including 20% international
all the HGV manufacturers have expressed their intention to attend and the main light utility vehicle manufacturers will be represented.
Two projects rubber stamped by LUTB were selected following the 11th call for projects by the single interministerial fund :
Geofencing MD
Geofencing MD aims to manage the Transport of Hazardous Goods in Urban Areas by developing an efficient telematics tool which can be used by all key players involved (loaders, carriers, public authorities, intervention groups, etc.).
Objective: geolocalisation and traceability in real time of hazardous goods; communication between vehicles and between vehicles and control tower; efficient management of crisis situations.
Project partners : Ereca, Renault Trucks (Volvo Technology) CETE Lyon, Université Josep Fourier, Add Valentiam, GeolocSystem.
Financial backing : DGCIS, Région Rhônes-Alpes, Conseil général du Rhône, Grand Lyon.

ITS congress report
The 8th Intelligent Transport Systems European congress was held this year in Lyon on 6-9 June.

Collective stand LUTB / Grand Lyon / Rhone-Alpes
Lyon Urban Truck & Bus was joint coordinator of the organisation committee and as such contributed to the success of this congress on intelligent transport systems for sustainable transport of goods and passengers in urban areas. The congress is a forum for presenting and discussing progress in new information and communication technologies applied to transport. The 2011 ITS congress welcomed 1,800 participants, an increase of 35% over previous congresses.
LUTB present at the first SOLUTRANS fair in Casablanca : 14-18 June 2011.
Launched jointly by the French Bodywork Federation – Equipment Manufacturers and the Moroccan HGV and Bodywork Group, the first SOLUTRANS MEDITERRANEE was held on 15-18 June at the Casablanca Fair and Exhibition Centre.
The aim stated by the organisers is to turn Casablanca into a turntable for all road transport activity for all countries in the Union For the Mediterranean: Maghreb, Africa and Mediterranean Europe.
The key players in the Rhône-Alpes automotive sector were in attendance on the LUTB association/Rhône-Alpes Automotive Cluster stand. The missions and all the activities of the competitiveness cluster were explained at a conference organised as part of the fair. Two accounts by key players from the cluster: Grand Lyon (founding member) and Adetel (member of the association’s board) illustrated the advantage of synergies and pooled skills encouraged by the LUTB cluster to support innovation and competitiveness in a region.

A new Economic Information Service for SME proposed by Lyon CCI
The new Economic Information Service set up by the Lyon CCI and Grand Lyon with the financial backing of the Rhône-Alpes region provides a genuine operational service for SME in the City of Lyon to help them expand their markets.
